Preserving the Past. Bringing Forgotten History into the Light.

We are building a place for biblical manuscripts, historical texts, maps, records, archaeological evidence, and the stories that connect them—a place where preservation and curiosity can work side by side.

The Heart of Aurora Biblical Archives

Biblical preservation is where the journey begins.

Aurora Biblical Archives is being built around a simple idea: important pieces of the biblical and historical past deserve to be found, cared for, understood, and shared.

That work naturally reaches into manuscripts and rare books, biblical archaeology, historical maps and cartography, GIS, provenance, digitization, and the many people and places connected to the sources we preserve.

We are not here to tell people what they must think about the past. We want to preserve the material, explore the questions around it, and make room for new understanding.

What We Are Building

Preserve. Document. Research. Educate.

Four connected parts of the same mission—protecting sources while keeping the door open to what they may still teach us.

01 / PRESERVE

Preservation

Protecting manuscripts, books, maps, records, photographs, artifacts, and digital materials from being lost or forgotten.

02 / DOCUMENT

Documentation

Recording provenance, condition, history, relationships, locations, and the details that help a source tell its story.

03 / RESEARCH

Research

Following questions through archival, historical, biblical, archaeological, geographic, and interdisciplinary approaches.

04 / EDUCATE

Education

Making what we learn accessible through digital resources, publications, exhibits, maps, and future learning programs.

The World We Explore

Biblical history does not exist in isolation.

The manuscripts, places, maps, people, cultures, and material remains surrounding biblical history can help us ask better questions—and sometimes reveal connections we did not expect.

A MANUSCRIPT • PRESERVATION

Manuscripts & Historical Texts

Bibles, manuscripts, editions, translations, rare books, inscriptions, records, and documentary traditions.

ARCHAEOLOGY • LANDSCAPE • PLACE

Biblical Archaeology

Sites, material culture, archaeological records, historical landscapes, and the evidence surrounding the biblical world.

MAPS • CARTOGRAPHY • GIS

Maps, Cartography & GIS

Historical maps, place names, routes, boundaries, landscapes, and geographic clues that help us understand where stories happened.

ARCHIVES • MEMORY • ACCESS

Forgotten & Unresolved Sources

Materials that are overlooked, unusual, disputed, incomplete, or simply waiting for someone to take a closer look.

EVERY SOURCE HAS A STORY
A Living Mission

Every source has a story.

A manuscript is more than the words on its pages. A map is more than the places it depicts. An old Bible is more than an edition or translation.

Each can carry traces of the people, places, journeys, beliefs, questions, and circumstances through which it passed.

We want to preserve those traces—and give them room to be explored.

See What We Hope to Preserve
From Discovery to Preservation

Bringing Forgotten History into the Light.

Somewhere, an old Bible may be sitting forgotten on a shelf. A manuscript may be separated from its history. A map may hold clues to a landscape that has changed. A record may preserve the story of someone whose name has nearly disappeared from history.

These are the things that draw us to this work.

Discover. Preserve. Understand. Share.

Keeping the Door Open

There is always more to discover.

History does not always arrive with clear answers. Sometimes a fragment, an ancient account, a tradition, a place name, or a map is simply the beginning of a much larger question.

What was left behind?

We preserve sources because even an incomplete or unfamiliar piece of history may hold something worth finding.

Where might it lead?

Questions can cross disciplines—from biblical studies and history to archaeology, cartography, geography, and archival science.

What might we discover?

Not every possibility becomes a discovery. But discovery requires curiosity, patience, and a willingness to look again.

The Heart of Aurora Biblical Archives

We don't know where every question will lead.

That's part of the reason we look.

Preserving the past. Bringing forgotten history into the light.
